Some Photos of Elizabeth's Garden

Excursión a Agua Termales

The other day, our good friends Alfredo, Marielos, Marcial and Anna took us to Valle Azul, a community to the north of San Ramón on the way to LaFortuna.

Our destination was "Termales de Valle", owned by Franco, a friend of Alfredo's. It is a wonderful, family-friendly place that features a number of pools of varying temperatures fed and warmed by the hot, mineral waters of the nearby Arenal Volcano. If one arrives early enough, which we did, one can take advantage of a rancho, a covered area with an outdoor oven, water and seating.
The spot is loved by Ticos and their families as it is is very reasonably priced ($4.00 per adult) compared to those favoured by tourists such as the nearby Baldi Hot Springs ($55.00 per adult) or the even costlier, Tabacon.
Franco's property contains much more than hot pools, the amazing grounds are home to old growth forests:
and fauna such as our old friend, the sloth,
and the Toucan of "cuckoo for cocoa puffs"fame.
